Preparation
- Practice the language by reading the short comic with the class together. Make sure they understand the meaning and the main grammar points and read it together again.
- Ask individual students to read different parts of the story during this section to make sure everyone is practicing.
- Use the flashcards to practice the specific language used in the dice game.
Decisive Dice
- The aim of this game is to finish with the least cards.
- Make groups of 3 or four students and get them to sit around a table.
- Give each group 1 pack of game cards and 1 dice.
- Students start by dealing out 4 cards each.
- The remainder of the cards sit face down in the middle of the table.
- Numbers 1-3 of the dice represent the language, I have to ...
- Numbers 4-6 of the dice represent the language, I don't have to ...
- The first student rolls the dice, if the number is 1,2 or 3 then they pick up a card from the center of the pack and make a sentence according to the image. For example, I have to cuddle a spider
- The next student rolls the dice, if the number is 4,5 or 6 then they take a card from their hand, make a sentence according to the image and put it back under the pack. This time however the sentence is the negative. For example, I don't have to cuddle a spider
- It's now the next students turn and so the game goes on.
- Continue the game until time, or the cards, run out.
