Game Preparation
- If you did Locations of Objects - 1 then much of this won't be necessary. If you didn't, then do the following...
- Use the flashcards to practice the objects if the students need to. It may not be necessary.
- Next, practice the language using some props (like a box and a toy penguin). Is the penguin in the box? Yes, it is. No, it isn't. etc
- Using a paper guillotine, pre-cut the game cards print-out into strips of 7 cards, so each student can cut out their own. 1 page of the print is enough for 20 students. Give each student 1 strip of 7 cards to cut out.
- Check that students know all of the object nouns on the Worksheet.
The Game !
- Pairs of students begin by sitting, facing opposite each other with the worksheet on the desk.
- Students play rock, paper, scissors to decide who begins first. Let's call this student (the winner) Student A and the other student Student B.
- Student A hides their worksheet from Student B, by standing a notebook up between the desks.
- Student A then places their cards down in the boxes on the worksheet.
- The AIM of the game is for Student B to ask questions, find
out where all these cards are on Student A's worksheet and place them in corresponding order on their own
worksheet. For example....
Student B :Is the on the table?
Student A :No, it isn't.
Student B :Is there a banana in the dryer?
Student A :Yes, it is.
- When they are finished, they check to see that the cards are the same, swap roles and play the game again.
- Students are generally happy to keep practicing earnestly for about 10 minutes. Then it's time to move on...
