| Advantages | It's a quick interactive game that you can use as a warmup in later classes. It practices appropriate gestures which can be used in English speaking cultures to gain a persons attention. You can use it as an extension to other communicative activities such as greetings. |
| Disadvantages | Nothing notable I can think of. |
Game Preparation
- Bring enough cards with pictures of objects on them so that each student has one card. I like to add objects like cows and hands just to make it a bit funny and liven the class up. So much better than wallets and notebooks .
Game
- Basically we just practice a skit where students work in pairs.
- Student A drops or leaves behind their card.
- Student B then has to use language and gesture to get their attention in an appropriate manner.
- Student B then says something like, "Is this your cow?". Refering to the card student A dropped.
- Student A then says something like, "Oh...yes, thank you!"
- Student B says, "No worries", or "No problem."
- They then use appropriate farwell gestures and language and that's it!
- You can extend into something else, like asking for the time, if the level is appropriate.
- That's all, pretty simple...
