Game Preparation
- Practice the language by reading the short comic on the worksheet with the class together. Make sure they understand the meaning and the main grammar points and read it together again.
- As in the previous lesson, use worksheet 2 to clarify and reinforce the grammar. It is the same worksheet.
- Get students to fill in the second page of the worksheets. Check they have done it correctly and help those that need help.
Game - Guess the Card 2
- Make groups of about 4 and sit in a circle around a desk with 24 or 48 cards (1 or 2 pages of the game cards printout, the more cards, the longer the game) in a pile in the middle.
- Very simply, this is a memory game where the aim is to collect as many pairs of cards as possible.
- Firstly, 2 cards are dealt out to each student.
- The first student to play points to a card in another students hand and asks a question according to one of the sentences they made on their worksheet. For example, 'Is that an onion?' They can ask the question to any student they choose.
- If the student the question was asked to is holding the onion card, then they answer 'Yes, it is.' and hand the card to the student who asked the question.
- If the student the question was asked to is not holding the onion card, then they answer 'No, it's not. It's a car.' (for example) and keep the card.
- Each time a student finishes asking a question they pick up another card from the pack.
- If at any time during the game, a student is able to make a pair, then they put the pair down in front of them and the pair is safe.
- The game ends when the cards run out.
- The winner is the student who has collected the most pairs.
- The game can also be played with the question 'Is that a cat?'. etc.
