How to play...
  • For this example we will use the target language "What's the time?", "It's 7 o'clock".
  • First of all, quickly run through the target language, check understanding, and practice before the game begins.
  • Tell the students they will practice the conversation, with as many different friends as possible, within a set time, ie 2 minutes.
  • At the end of each conversation they must exchange cards.
  • Tell them that at the end of the 2 minutes, whoever is holding the 'magic card' will receive a prize, ie a 'stamp'.
  • At the end of the 2 minutes, tell them all to stop, announce the 'magic card', and give the prize. Then choose a new 'magic card' (don't tell them what it is), and start again.
  • Play the game over and over again as many times as you like.
  • At the end of each 2 minutes you might find them jumping up and down, shouting like pelicans for you to choose their card. Be objective, close your eyes, wave your magicians wand and draw the card from the heavens.

Sleep ... my worst enemy, my best friend.
